Author, Institutional Physics

I study how AI reshapes institutions.

As execution compresses, governance systems designed for slower environments begin to break. The central challenge is no longer technological capability, but whether institutions can absorb speed without losing control.

My work focuses on how capital markets organizations redesign decision-making, accountability, and operating models in response to this shift.

Intellectual Focus

I focus on three structural tensions:

  • execution speed vs governance capacity
  • automation vs accountability
  • architectural complexity vs institutional control

This work sits at the intersection of AI, governance, and institutional design—with applications in capital markets, trading infrastructure, and complex financial systems.

Frameworks

  • Institutional Physics

I developed Institutional Physics as a framework to understand how execution speed, governance, and institutional structure interact.

The core idea:

As AI compresses execution, institutions must redesign governance to absorb speed without losing control.

Institutional Physics explains why institutions fail—not when technology breaks, but when governance cannot keep pace.

  • R2R (Reactive to Resilient)

I also developed the R2R operating model, which addresses structural fragility in mid-tier institutions—particularly:

  • fragmented telemetry
  • vendor opacity
  • dependency blind spots
  • reactive incident management

R2R reframes resilience as an operating discipline rather than a tooling problem and has been featured in TradingTech Insight.

Advisory & Governance

I contribute to industry and governance initiatives focused on:

  • AI governance and institutional risk
  • trading system architecture and resilience
  • evaluation of vendor platforms and emerging technologies
  • Advisory Board Member, TradingTech Insight (North America)
  • Voting Board Member, BSNBCS Charter Schools

Engagements

I engage with institutions, regulators, and industry platforms on:

  • AI governance in regulated environments
  • institutional design under compressed execution
  • front-office systems operating at increasing decision velocity

If you are working on similar problems, I welcome the conversation.

Ongoing Work

I am currently developing Institutional Physics into a broader body of work focused on how AI reshapes governance, risk, and institutional stability in capital markets.

Select work and publications will be released over time.
